The Sir Bobby Robson School is state-of-the-art facility for youngsters with social, emotional and mental health needs.

BetweenGlassBlinds are known for their excellence in the residential sector, but more and more centres of education are choosing their aesthetically pleasing and simple-to-maintain integral blinds as their privacy solutions.

A great example of this is a recent project BGB UK did for a brand new SEND school in Ipswich, named after the famed Ipswich Town and England manager, Sir Bobby Robson.

The Sir Bobby Robson School is state-of-the-art facility for youngsters with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school offers 60 places for students, aged eight and 16 years old and its vision is to provide individualised support and prepare students to become successful independent adults.  As well as 15 classrooms, the site includes soft play and sensory areas along with a multi-purpose hall, as well as a kitchen and dining space.

BetweenGlassBlinds provided the project with 64 integral blind sets. BGB was able to help doorset supplier Dorplan meet specialist requirements for the project, including fully encapsulated integral blinds in both vision panels and side screens. The units contain a unique tracking system for the magnet meaning that the magnet cannot get lost or be removed from the rails.

The integral blinds were needed throughout the school. Iron Grey venetian blinds were used, which complimented the durable dark laminate doors with contrasting wooden beading and frame colour.  Using BetweenGlassBlinds dedicated fire test evidence for integral blinds in timber doors, FD30 requirements were met; non-fire and 35Db acoustic rated units were also supplied. The blinds were required to be Tilt Only and operated from one side.

Integrated blinds from BetweenGlassBlinds are an ideal product to use in an education setting because they are hermetically sealed between two panels of glass. They allow full control of privacy as they can be tilted in one easy motion, are cordless for safety, and are completely maintenance free.

Mark Nash, BetweenGlassBlinds Managing Director, said: “We are proud to have been a supplier for such an exciting and innovative school build. The Sir Bobby Robson School is a benchmark for SEND education. We feel our integral blinds, with their modern and sophisticated style, alongside their safety features, lack of needed maintenance and ease of use are the perfect complement to the project”.
