Recently when remodelling their new engineering facility, the University of Exeter wanted the best in equipment to facilitate exemplary education.

The Project

Drake Tooling & Abrasives Ltd, resellers for Bott Ltd were enlisted to deliver an innovative space designed to inspire creativity and get the best from students. The Maker Space allows students to prototype and develop their engineering ideas. The state of the art facility will provide students with the opportunity to test and advance their skills.

The Solution

The Maker Space has been designed with thirty workbenches, two of which have adjustable height settings and twelve mobile drawer cabinets. The area has a maximum capacity of 60 students, which totals 500 per week, and that’s why the bott cubio range was recommended. The high-quality kit boasts reliability, flexibility and the capacity to deliver in the most demanding situations.From beginning to completion the team worked closely with the project manager Joanna Duffin to create a bespoke workspace for the university. Using their Custom Design & Build option, bott gave complete autonomy to the designers of the workspace, enabling the Exeter team the freedom to alter details right down to the finest millimetre. From developing workbenches that accommodate pillars to powder coating the cabinets and drawer fronts in the University of Exeter’s bespoke colour choice.
