Tarkett Lino: natural, versatile and sustainable

In line with the Department of Education’s School Rebuilding Programme to deliver schools that are net-zero in operation, education facilities are under immense pressure to source finishes that support this goal.  Choosing a sustainable flooring solution, like Tarkett’s Linoleum: a collection that is natural, easy to maintain and can be recycled post-use is an excellent option for those involved in the project.

Grounded in over a century of craftsmanship in Narni, Italy, Tarkett lino has been reimagined to offer one of the most sustainable solutions on the market.

Made from natural, renewable materials such as linseed oil, pine resin, jute, sawdust and cork dust, and abundant mineral resources like calcium carbonate, linoleum is a bio-based product and an inherently sustainable material. Our Cradle to Cradle Certified® approach ensures the design of our products positively contribute to a school's environment, as well as students and staff's well-being at each step of the product’s life, all the while supporting the transition to a circular economy.

Lino Loose-Lay: the first ever loose-lay solution

Tarkett Lino Loose-Lay is the natural, bio-based choice for school facilities that require quick and easy glue-free installation. It offers the assurance to withstand like a glue down product whilst being suitable for a variety of existing subfloors or damp subfloors – making it a perfect solution for renovations that require a fast turnaround.

Lino Loose-Lay is extremely resistant due to its xf² surface treatment that gives high resistance to abrasion and chemicals, meaning no wax or polish is ever needed. The modern cleaning technique for this collection aims to reduce wet procedures, replacing them with alternatives such as water and microfiber mops. Making cleaning easier and more effective for staff, whilst minimising the environmental impact of your school.

In addition to its environmental aspects, Lino Loose-Lay was designed to be installed in a large variety of applications, mainly where resistance to high traffic and hygiene is required in common areas such as reception areas, corridors or changing rooms.

Tarkett’s commitment:

Tarkett is dedicated to creating flooring solutions that are not only safe for people's health and well-being, but also better for the planet.

We ensure that our flooring is made from carefully selected materials to protect children's health. Phthalates, for example, are a common contaminant in indoor environments, and research suggests that they can have a detrimental effect on human health. Selecting good materials is also essential to recycling products effectively post-use, ensuring your school is an active participant in the circular economy.

Utilising the Cradle to Cradle® approach, we ensure that we can recycle and reuse materials in future production, reducing waste and preserving natural resources. With this method, you can be confident in the health and environmental performance of your chosen flooring products.
